Flaxseed reduces visceral and liver fat accumulation due to a high-fat diet. It improves hypercholesterolemia, hyperinsulinemia, hyperlipidaemia and hyperleptinemia. This ability of Alsi lignin may help in preventing obesity. Lignan present in Flaxseed has been studied to lower the relative risk factors for heart disorders associated with lifestyle diseases like diabetes, atherosclerosis and hypertension.

• Flaxseed seeds are loaded with antioxidants, which exist in lignans. This antioxidant activity is responsible for the ability of flaxseed to prevent early skin ageing and pigmentation and to strengthen immunity.
